Dr. Faustino Orillo was renowned because of his excellent contributions to Philippine agriculture. He was born on February 16, 1921. Dr. Orillo's researches in plant pathology helped pave the way to minimize losses suffered by crop producers attributable to plant diseases. Remarkable of his systematic publications are on the blight affecting kenaf, coffee rust, and leaf spot of Maize because of Helminthosporium maydis. He received the Distinguished Alumnus award from the UP College of Agriculture in 1974. He is also an affiliate of numerous professional and learned societies like the American Phytopathological Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Botanical Society of America.
