Luz Belardo uses up five decades of her life researching on the chemistry of natural products and essential oils from Philippine plants. She has haul out new Philippine essential oils and considered their chemical and physical assets. Outcome of her effort establish application in the formation of new flavors and in herbal drugs. Her unfailing work on phytochemical research brought her admiration and 32 awards along with are the Luinsford-Richardson Award in Pharmacy, USA in 1956; Philippine Pharmaceutical Association Outstanding Pharmacist Award in 1963; Federacion International de Abogadas Award in 1979; Waseda University Plaque of Recognition, Japan in 1981; Professional Regulation Commission Award in Pharmacy in 1983; National Research Council of the Philippines Award in Phytochemistry in 1985; El Consejo Mundial Award, Mexico in 1988.
