Ismael Aviso, a 54 years old Filipino e-car inventor who became eminent because of his self-charging electric car. According to him skyrocketing petroleum prices should spur Filipinos to help each other. He had based his statement because of the continuous fuel hikes. Aviso owns a water-refilling business in Navotas City.

 
The First Seaweed Laboratory in Central Luzon

BFAR seaweed tissue culture laboratory is located at ABMATC Compound in Barangay Zabali, Baler, Aurora. This was known as the first seaweed laboratory in Central Luzon and one of the six active seaweed laboratories in the country. As a major project of Casiguran Mariculture Park, it covers an area of 321.6 hectares in Casiguran Bay. Aurora province is planning to develop its seaweed culture area from 150 hectares to 1,000 hectares in the next years.

 
The origins of Rice Varieties

A research study was co-authored by Prof. Michael Purugganan of New York University. Graduated from the University of the Philippines with a BS degree in 1985, earned his Master's at Columbia University in 1986, and received his Ph.D from the University of Georgia in 1993. His work can be viewed at the Center for Genomics and Systems Biology. He is also a Professor of Biology and Dorothy Schiff Professor of Genomics at New York University.

 
Phil Red Cross Conducts Disaster Preparedness Training at Baseco, Tondo

As known to be a disaster-prone area due to its geographical location, the Philippine Red Cross recently conducted training on disaster preparedness for residents of Baseco (Bataan Shipyard Corporation Compound) in Tondo, Manila.

The practical drill was held last April 14 14 at the PRC stockyard on Bonifacio Drive, Port Area, Manila.

 
DOST's 5 Priority Programs

In the Communication and News Exchange (CNEX) meeting, Mario Montejo, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary, discussed the agency's five priority programs which focused on making a difference in the lives of Filipinos by maximizing science and technology. Private media attended the event. Since, President Aquino's dream for our country is named daang matuwid.

 
The Famous Caves of Bulacan

Tourists who want to explore in some places for summer get away may visit Bulacan and walk into its famous visiting sites like Paniki Cave, Aguinaldo Cave, and the over 100 caves of Biak-Na-Bato. Biak-Na-Bato was built more than 100 years ago. Visitors who desire to view the beauty of Biak-Na-Bato caves will experience ecological, historical and cultural tour.

 
DoST sponsored a training for mango growers of Siquijor

Last May 17-19, the Region 7 office of the Department of Science and Technology (DoST) through its provincial office sponsored three-day training on mango processing and packaging the Mango Processing House here. The goal of the training is to help and assist mango growers of Siquijor.

 
Bulacan Heroes Now in Book

To preserve the lives of Bulacan heroes and symbols in the minds of children of next generations, James Salvador Corpuz, a Bulakenyo author, commemorates them through a book: "MOHON: Mga Bulakenyong Biyaya ng Kasaysayan."

Corpuz, who is also the present cultural director of Arte Bulakenyo Foundation, Inc, is famous for making a wide study since 1998 to put up an account of the most remarkable personalities in Bulacan.

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and SM City Marilao helped out in the launching of the said book that will surely contribute to Philippine History.
