Philippine schools for young scientists opened

The number of public schools that breed future Filipino scientists has now reached 200 nationwide, with the addition this school year of 100 new schools that offer specialized curriculum focused on the sciences.

DOST calls for new researches

The Department of Science and Technology calls the attention of inventors, researchers and innovators to transform their creations into tangible products designed to attend to the needs of the market. Engr. Rowen Gelonga, Department of Science and Technology 6 Director, issued the call during the closing and awarding ceremonies of the 2011 Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits held last October 21, 2011. According to Gelonga, the bigger challenge lies ahead. This refers to the challenge of transforming the creations into actual products in the market. The transformation of ideas into business enterprises is needed to will build the industries from mind to market and from ideas to industries.

Aviso Energy features Filipino inventions

Ismael Aviso, a Filipino inventor and alternative energy visionary is now preparing for the presentation of his invention in the United States in December 2011. According to Ismael Aviso, 54 years old, an entrepreneur and resident of Navotas City, his American business partners are bringing him over to the United States in early December to demonstrate his "power-multiplying electronics technologies" before potential investors. In an article posted by Pure Energy Systems (PES) Network Inc., one of Aviso’s followers, Aviso's will participate in a week-long conference at the research and development (R&D)-centric area at Silicon Valley in Northern California. The conference will happen on December 2 and 8 although no venue was provided.

Janna Cachola

Janna Cachola (born on October 29 1989) is an actress, singer, model and make up artist based in New Zealand. She has been performing since 2006 but rose to fame in 2010 when she was one of the Filipino cast of "Miss Saigon" musical in New Zealand (batchmates of Tina Braganza, Kimpoy Feliciano). She has been dubbed as New Zealands Filipina Princess.

Pinoy's E-car in Europe and US

Ismael Aviso, 54, a resident of Navotas City, is a Filipino inventor and another energy visionary. He is looking forward for a prospective fruitful trip to Europe in preparation for the presentation of his inventions to technological experts and investors in US next month. For the past year, Aviso has made online free energy circle buzzing with excitement over prospects of his creations such as his fuel-less, self-charging electrical car and power generator.

Inventors from the Northern Part of the Philippines won DOST's event

During the 2011 Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits held in Pangasinan organized by the Department of Science and Technology, Ilocano inventors won in a prestigious regional invention contest. Engr Jose Zafaralia of Mariano Marcos State University in Batac City got the ‘Engineered Kawayan Technology: Machines and Products-Bamboo splitting machine.’ Also, Engr. Reynold Caoili and Dr. Reynaldo Castro of the Philippine Rice Research Institute-Batac City won the 1st prize in their creative research category for ‘Using water to pump water: the hydro-powered water pump.'

Pinoy Hilot at Angeles City: Another Guinness World Record

The city government of Angeles recently held the highest sitting back-rub massage chain in the world. The city expects for the Guinness World Record title with a total of 447 masseurs and masseuses who participated. All of them are members of the Philippine Association of Licensed Massage Therapists (PALMT). The said event is set to be verified by representatives from the Guinness Book of Records. Ronaldo Tiotuico, Department of Tourism 3 (DOT3) regional director, uttered his confidence that the new world record will be attained by the wellness industry since DoT is now on its way to catch the fitness fever as they top for the huge destination for treatment, healing, and recovery. At present, the holder for the longest standing human shoulder massage chain came from St. Louis, Missouri in USA.

The Mind Museum

The first Mind Museum at Taguig was inaugurated in a pre-launch reception headed by Vice-President Jejomar Binay, Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano and the board of trustees of Bonifacio Art Foundation (BAFI) and the proponent of The Mind Museum led by its chairman Jose D. Campos and vice chairman Fernando Zobel. The city government officials, guests and donors had seen the new building and its center piece exhibits for the first time.
