After the electric jeepney, here comes the 1st Filipino engineered and assembled electric tricycle (E-trike). It was designed and modified from a regular motorcycle with the sidecar of a regular tricycle by Antonio Aguilar, a former overseas Filipino worker and his son Allan, a municipal councilor of Marilao, Bulacan. E-trike is powered by four 12 volts rechargeable batteries that can last for 8 hrs. and can run for 80 to 100 kms. Charging of batteries can be done on slower pace or 6-8 hrs. and the faster pace is 1-2 hrs. Similar to ordinary tricycle, the E-trike can have 4 passengers including the driver with combined weight of 250 kilograms and can cruise at a speed of 30-40 kms per hour. Goes with a battery charging kit with watt meter, ampere/voltage meter, built in automatic over charge protection timer, each E-trike costs between P150,000 - P175,000. The E-trke can help protect the environment a it uses no gas and oil. [via] |
