With a hope to raise a new breed of scientists from high schools all over the country, Department of Education (DepEd) has launched Science and Technology Fair 2010.

Winners from the said fair will be selected to represent the country at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) and other international and regional science exhibitions.

ISEF is the world's largest international pre-college science fair competition and is attended by 1,611 high school students from over 59 countries.

In a statement given by the Education Secretary Br. Armin Luistro, FSC, he said that strong orientation on science and technology among the citizenry is the establishment of highly developed economies all over the world. This is the purpose of opening avenues such as this fair to encourage the youth to immerse themselves in scientific pursuit.

The fair has four levels which can be participated by the students from both public and private secondary schools. The School level was held last August 28 to 29, Division level is set on September 18 to 19, Regional level will be on October 2 to 3 and the National level is set on October 27 to 30.

Students' projects and researches from the science fair can be used to contribute to the advancement in science and technology which the country sorely needed. [via abs-cbnnews.com]
