RP Participated in Asean Food Festival

Our country is present during the 43rd anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) or embassy food fair happened at the Lao National Cultural Hall last October 16. The Lao foreign ministry is the organizer of the Diplomatic Food Fair. This is an affair of 2 events: the 43rd Anniversary of Asean and the 13th Anniversary of the country's accession to the ASEAN. The food products and souvenir items were showcased in the event.

The countries which participated are China, Japan, South Korea, India and the United States. The Philippine Embassy and the ASEAN member countries are also present in the said event. The Philippine booth presented the products of Filipino chefs like lechon de leche (roasted suckling piglet), kalderetang kambing (stewed goat's meat), palitaw, biko and puto (sweet rice and sticky rice cake), longanisa (Philippine sausage), tocino (sweetened cured pork), pancit (Philippine noodles), banana cake and yema. Filipino businessmen also distributed brochures of their different recipes. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bonkeut Sangsomsak headed the opening ceremony of the fair.

The Philippine Embassy also gave gift bags as tokens to officials and other booth visitors. The tokens contain materials on tourism and investment promotion like suman (sticky rice steamed in banana leaves), polvoron (processed milk candy) and Philippine-made papaya bar soaps.
Also Philippine souvenir items and facial care products are being displayed. [via gmanews.tv]
