Filipino Street Game

Are you familiar with the "tumbang preso" game during your elementary and high school days? Now, Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots battling Decepticons in a game of "tumbang preso" will be available in a lesser extent.

According to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Manila had sponsored the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) last Nov. 6-8 at SMX Convention Center. In this event, robots designed by elementary and high school students from all over the world played traditional Philippine games. Different categories of Filipino street games were played. Junior high school teams will trench their robots in a game called tumbang preso. In this game, players must distract an opponent by hitting a tin can while the latter is guarding the can.

The annual robotics competition was participated by 1,000 students from 32 countries. The said event carried out thePhilippine culture and tourism. "The Philippine government is very excited to spearhead this year’s WRO. It is not only a competition but a great avenue to promote Philippine culture," said Science Education Institute Director Ester Ogena, the 2010 WRO National Advisory Committee Vice Chair.
