Another Pinoy singer stands out as he made it into the grand finals of this year’s Open Mic UK, a national talent competition in Britain. A nurse at the University Hospital of North Tees, Jouver JB Nagano defended a place in the grand finals of Open Mic UK on January 15 at the London O2. Open Mic UK is a national singing competition for unsigned artists. Open to all acts from different genres of music, it is divided into three categories: under 16s, 16-25, and over-25s. The winner will receive prizes worth £50,000, including a management and recording contract for a single release.
A native of Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, JB went in UK on February 2010 to work as a nurse through a recruitment drive in the northeast of England. Having a passion in music he had successfully be a part of the said competition while working as a nurse. The 28-year-old impressed the audience as he showcased his wide vocal range and hitting high note with his version "I Believe." JB is very proud that he got that far in the competition. He really enjoys the competition and makes everybody proud. Meanwhile, the Open Mic top prize was ultimately given to beat-boxing boy band Fran Classic from Brighton. [via abs-cbnnews.com] |
