Even without recognition, Daniel Dizon, a Kapampangan painter, does one remarkable thing for the country.

The Kapampangan painter had produced notable paintings that captured on canvas the design and colors of combat uniforms of Katipuneros, including American colonial troops.

And for this, he identifies his work as historical paintings and he calls himself as artist- historian.

Dizon was invited to exhibit his work, which will last from June 10 until July, at the Maharajah Hotel for the 113th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine independence.

For the said exhibit, he prepared 60 drawings in oil, watercolor, pencil, and pen and ink.

As a good start, there were 38 pieces of art works that can be bought from P5, 000 and P300, 000 each that will be given to the San Sebastian Church in Tarlac.

Dizon’s historical artworks are divided into four sets such as:

  • First -depicts Filipino revolutionaries in their uniforms and firearms from 1896 to 1913.
Second - set shows Philippine Army soldiers and Philippine Scouts in their uniforms from 1941 to 1942.
Third - presents the founder of Angeles City, Don Angel Pantaleon de Miranda, as a military official
Fourth - set displays the evolution of United States Army uniforms, from 1775 to 1976.

According to him, these can explain to the youth some essential things that are not taught in school, like the fact that the Philippine revolution against Spain was the first successful revolution in Asia. [via newsinfo.inquirer.net]
