In the recent four-day Mindanao Invention Contest and Expo (MICE) 2010 held at the NCCC Mall, Secretary Mario G. Montejo of the Department of Science and Technology (DoST) emphasized the significance of technology, innovations, and inventions in to increase the country's economic growth.

With the theme: "Filipino Inventions and Innovations: The Way Forward," Montejo said in his speech, delivered by DoST Assistant Secretary Carol M. Yorobe, that the government is dedicated to support the inventors not only in the Mindanao region, but throughout the country to produce new ideas and convert them into helpful products, processes, and services that would eventually help the whole citizenry.

He added that inventions will help boost the country since history shows that advancement in inventions, technology and innovations, are the fundamental pillars of modern economy.

He rest assured that DoST will continue to encourage and assist inventors to boost the level of invention that would help develop the quality of life of the people.

MICE 2010 showcase the resourceful researches and inventions of Mindanao inventors and hopes to generate prospective adopters and make linkages with participating inventors-researchers-entrepreneurs.
