Alfredo Anos Sr

Alfredo M. Anos Sr. is recognized as the godfather of Filipino inventors. He has made greater than 44 inventions and innovations that received multi-level recognition. Some inventions of him are Anos Fire Boat, Anos Fire Rescue, Portable Fire Pump, Boring Device, Life-Saving Blood, Plasma Sheller, Anti-Storm, Moderator, and the Variable Color Monolight.

 
Organiculture from Eliseo Ruiz

Thirty years had passed when Eliseo Ruiz, the multi-awarded inventor presented his Organiculture invention with zeal to government officials. His objective is to contribute to the campaign of restoring rice lands. The government only endorsed him for organic farming no real plan was raised. At present, his Organiculture, was used in making organic fertilizer and now promoted in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, and the Middle East and soon in United States, India, Brunei, Mexico, Canada and Africa. In addition, this year an organiculture production plant in the People's Republic of China (PROC) will be launched in partnership with a Chinese businessman and a provincial government.

 
Intellectual Property Law to Expedite Technology Transfers

As President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signs the Republic Act 10055, known as Philippine Technology Transfer Act of 2009, research output will no longer take time in reaching the public as tangible product.

The president signed the law last March 23 which is now defines as Intellectual Property (IP) as the tangible assets resulting from the creative work of an individual or an organization, including creations of the mind, such as inventions, literary and artistic works, and symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce.

 
IP Philippines: Supports Filipino Patents

According to the new Director-General of Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IP Philippines), Ricardo R. Blancaflor, the growing number of patents on Filipino inventions certifies assurance against patent infringer and removes our country from the watch list of US. This will be the mission of their agency in the next five year. The office had confiscated about P5.6 billion worth of fake goods last year, and they expect to snitch at least the same amount this year.

 
PAL and ePLDT Ventus' Call Center

In the last 2 economic years, PAL's financial situation has been failing, with over $350 million annual losses. An agreement was signed by PAL to formalize the partnership with ePLDT Ventus on June 1, 2010.  ePLDT Ventus is a subsidiary of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT). They will handle call center operations thru flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL). The call center venture of PAL is included in the 3 non-core units of the airline and it will possibly employ an initial of 3,000 workers. The other 2 units will handle in-flight catering services and airport services such as ground round handling, cargo terminal/cargo handling and ramp handling. According to PAL, ePLDT Ventus will provide job opportunities to all affected employees of PAL's reservation sales units located in Manila, Cebu, and at the Mabuhay Miles Center. Those employees will be prioritized in the selection of 600 agent positions.
