In Southern Philippine City, tuna industry players have already felt the touch of global warming and the economic crisis. General Santos, RP's Tuna Capital, provides thousands of tons of tuna every year for local and international markets. On the other hand, fishermen have recently found their catch decreasing due to global warming and oil price disturbances. As a solution, Filipino traders are planning to set up tune-breeding facilities in the country but it's a little bit expensive. But then, to avoid shortage in 20 years, people must invest as soon as possible. |
