Anne Curtis, also known for her kapamilya teleserye Dyosa, bagged trophy for Best Actress for the movie Baler in the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival.

Baler, a Viva Films production, also got the trophy for the Best Supporting Actor Award for Philip Salvador.

The movie talks about the siege of Baler. Curtis plays the role of Feliza Reyes, daughter of rebel leader (Philip Salvador), who falls in love with a Filipino-Spanish soldier Celso Resurreccion (Jericho Rosales).

This was the first acting award for Curtis since she joined showbiz in 1995. She competed with veteran actresses, Ai- Ai delas Alas, Maricel Laxa and Dawn Zulueta, among others, for the Best Actress Award.

She also shares her award for Echo (Jericho Rosales), who also worked really hard for the film.

Meanwhile, Christopher de Leon receives the Best Actor award for the movie Magkaibigan. [via]
