General Gregorio H. Del Pilar was born in Bulacan, Bulacan, on November 14, 1875. He went to Manila to pursue his studies. His uncles Deodato Arellano and Marcelo H. Del Pilar thought him lessons of patriotism and courage. He served as messenger to his uncle's anti-colonial activities and he is the distributor of the writings and publications of his uncle Marcelo del Pilar. This helped him gained friends from his fellow-students in Manila. General Del Pilar is a Katipunero who joined the revolution happened in August 1896. |

Jose Rizal (full name: Jose Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda) (June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896), was a Filipino polymath, nationalist and the most prominent advocate for reforms in the Philippines during Spanish colonial era and its eventual independence from Spain. He is considered a national hero of the Philippines and the anniversary of Rizal's death is commemorated as a Philippine holiday called Rizal Day. Rizal's 1896 military trial and execution made him a martyr of the Philippine Revolution.
