Dr. Abarquez was elected Academician on 1993. He was born on July 9, 1928. Her academic achievement includes M.D., University of the Philippines in 1953 and A.A., University of the Philippines in 1948.
She was appreciated for his stupendous research and undertakings in the field of cardiovascular diseases and groundbreaking contributions to exercise ECG methodology.
Dr. Abarquez, was also a past president of the Philippine Society of Hypertension and one of the acknowledged pillars of Philippine cardiology.
